All praise belongs to Allah many abundant praises. And I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped in truth except for Allah alone, He has no partners. I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.As for what is to follows:

For indeed I have looked through this entitled treatise, "Read my reading" authored by the two noble brothers Abu Hazim and Abu Turaab from Indonesia – May Allah preserve them both—thus I have seen that these two brothers have sacrificed diligently and well in writing a beneficial, simplified way to instruct beginners the elementary stages of reading and writing (i.e. Arabic), as well as something from (the issue) of Tawheed, Tajweed, and beneficial Ad'kaar (i.e. plural for Dhikr).

Thus, May Allah reward them both with good, and may Allah cause them two as well as their treatise to be a benefit and use for the rising generation of students of knowledge (i.e. religious knowledge). Shaykh Yahya Bin 'Ali Al-Hajoori

Each lesson in Part Two centers on a text that deals with a social, historical, literary, or cultural issue. In addition to the main reading text, students will also find additional authentic texts for reading and listening comprehension, vocabulary and grammar exercises, close listening and speaking activities, and cultural background for the reading. The newly revised and repackaged Part Two has been restructured to reflect pedagogical developments over the last eight years, updated with new authentic reading and listening texts, and expanded with new video materials. In addition to the speaking, listening, and writing skills emphasized throughout each lesson, more time and emphasis is placed on activating vocabulary and structure with new activities for inside and outside the classroom. Features include: provides basic texts of printed media to help students connect the written and aural/oral aspects of Arabic; features intensive reading that is focused on grammar and pronunciation-not just comprehension; contains substantial amounts of drills and exercises to help students memorize and gain active control of an expanded vocabulary; explores the root and pattern system of Arabic grammar and complex sentence structure using vocabulary, complex texts, and translation exercises; develops writing skills at the paragraph level to encourage synthesis of vocabulary and grammar. Features also include: provides explicit instructions to students and instructors on drills and activities, including recommendations on appropriate exercises for inside and outside the classroom; new interactive DVDs contain reading comprehension texts with new material and new listening comprehension material; DVDs present cultural background with illustrations and continues the story of Maha and Khalid using both Egyptian Colloquial Arabic and Modern Standard Arabic.

Programmed Course in Modern Literary Arabic Phonology Script


A brief narrative description of the journal article, document, or resource. This course is designed to teach the non-Arabic speaker to read printed Arabic, to write Arabic with "a pleasing hand," to distinguish accurately the phonological contrasts of modern literary Arabic, and to pronounce it in a manner easily comprehensible to Arabs. Dialogs and proverbs are included for reading practice; grammatical structures are not dealt with. The course may serve as an introduction to, or be used concurrently with, a basic course. Typical lessons present a set of letters related in form, plus certain auxiliary signs. For each letter or sign there are three sections: (1) its pronunciation value, with explanations and drills if it differs from or is lacking in English; (2) the various shapes of this letter in its printed form and drills in reading it; and (3) the written forms of the letter, also with practice drills. At the end of each unit there are review drills for the unit as a whole. The material is presented usually one small feature at a time, and the student proceeds at his own rate. Pronunciation features are recorded on tape as well as described phonetically. Answers to oral drills are on tape; written answers are given in the left margin of the following page.

This is one of a series of self-teaching textbooks initially prepared for the Armed Forces and now offered to the general public. The textbook is divided into four sections. Sections one and two each contain five lessons and one review. Each lesson consists of basic sentences, pronunciation practice, grammar, conversational situations, and vocabulary terms, and is accompanied by recordings. Section three contains numerical, spatial, and chronological terms. A final section is an index of aids to listening, pronunciation, reading, and vocabulary. The emphasis is on speaking rather than reading or writing, and grammatical material is accordingly kept on an informal level.
